our story

Only a few weeks after the birth of our first child, someone asked me if I would homeschool him. I had never once considered it. Yet a couple of years later, prompted by friends and curious about the possibility, I began reading, observing, and learning what I could about the homeschool option. Most importantly, I became a diligent and prayerful student of my children and our home.

Eager to trial a few ideas in our home, I created a more intentional rhythm to include more structured learning alongside our existing art, read aloud, and outdoor play. By the time my son was ready for kindergarten, little did I realize, we had already begun our homeschool journey. We stepped into our first formal year at home and never turned back.

Still, as with any good story, ours has been as much about growing faithful and courageous hearts in the midst of conflict and tragedy as it has been about learning to read or write or count.  Like many of you, our family has weathered financial hardship, moving homes, homeschool burnout, and even periods of relational loneliness along the way, but in each place, God has faithfully met us and led us onward.

Now, as our children have begun to graduate into the next part of their education, I can see the cathedral God has been building in us, and I look to more deeply encourage and support mothers paving the educational path in their own homes. Pulling from nearly two decades of mothering, homeschooling, research, and life experience, I hope these consultations will help lighten your load. Welcome.

The question is not, –– how much does the youth know? when he has finished his education -- but how much does he care? and about how many orders of things does he care?

“Bethany is a gem. Her beautiful pensiveness and incredible presence allow for her words to be full of richness, drawn from incredible life experience as a mother of four. Additionally, Bethany is a reader. She draws upon various ideas that cross-pollinate and inspire the wisdom she shares. I consider the time together a real gift and blessing."
